Chef & Co-owner Arbor Contemporary Nordic Japanese Dining
Eric Räty
Born and raised in Finland, Chef Eric Räty attended culinary school from a young age while working demanding night shifts at the two-Michelin- starred Chez Dominique in Helsinki. Rising quickly through the kitchen brigade, he moved to Germany to serve as pastry chef at the three-Michelin-starred Aqua before returning to Chez Dominique as Head Chef. In 2014, Eric relocated to Hong Kong as Chef de Cuisine at Café Gray Deluxe at The Upper House, working alongside the late legendary chef Gary Kunz. He opened Restaurant Arbor in 2018, which rapidly achieved two Michelin stars by 2020. At Arbor, Chef Eric shaped a signature Nordic-Japanese identity, marrying precise traditional European cooking techniques with exceptional seafood and Japanese produce sourced with a refined Japanese sensibility. Currently competing as a standout contestant on Chef of China (一饭封神), Chef Eric continues to captivate diners and judges alike by dominating challenges with his sharp precision, inventive flavor pairings, and distinctive cross-cultural culinary philosophy.
